1) What is an Independent Baptist Church?
Tunkhannock Baptist Church is what is known as an independent Baptist church. What do we mean by that? It would be best to explain by understanding what we call, Baptist distinctives, using a well-known acrostic:
Biblical authority of the New Testament for faith and practice
Autonomy of the local church
Priesthood of all believers
Two ordinances (believer's baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper)
Individual soul liberty
Separation of church and state
Two offices of the church (pastor and deacon)
2) What translation of the Bible do you use?
We do not believe that any one English translation of the Bible is perfect. The people in our church use a number of different versions including the KJV, the NASB, the NKJV, and the NIV. Our Pastor uses the English Standard Version for his preaching and teaching.
3) Is there a dress code?
No! People in the church dress in many different ways. Some dress business casual, some in suits and dresses. You will not be judged for how you look at our church.
